L’AND Vineyards aims to provide a sophisticated, natural experience in wide open areas, combining outstanding modern architecture based on the reinterpretation of Mediterranean patio houses, real eco respect, extraordinary hospitality services and the possibility of producing personalised rural products.
Wine culture is a key element of the L’AND experience. In each resort the wine club allows the members to have their own vineyard and to produce wine each year in a totally personalised manner. This process is conducted in specially designed cellars with the assistance of oenologists.
Effective environmental sustainability is a fundamental characteristic of the development’s identity and is demonstrated in the search for energy efficiency in the conception, construction and management of all resorts.
L’AND Vineyards
Extending over approximately 66ha in the Alentejo region of Portugal, L’AND Vineyards combines a luxury hotel with residential tourism and a high standard of amenities, with personalised units for first and second residences. It has stunning views of the village of Montemor-o-Novo and its castle and is only minutes away from many tourist destinations, including the city of Evora which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
L’AND Vineyards comprises nine clusters of villas, an area of single-storey townhouses and a building that houses all the tourist services available at the complex. Five internationally renowned architects are leaving their imprints on the landscape, giving each cluster a unique and distinct personality. Each unit also has a sizeable room which acts as the central and organisational hub of the layout. Surrounding this room there are several patios, each bearing an open connection to the landscape around it.
The design concept, development, building and management of L’AND Vineyards stands out for its high degree of environmental awareness. This has resulted in it being the first development in Portugal to be awarded the BREEAM standard, a certification for sustainable building recognised as one of the foremost international benchmarks in the field. The project will be highly energy efficient, using, amongst other things, integrated solar energy, domestic water heating and micro generation of electricity. There will also be a communal ecological vegetable garden within the complex where property owners will be able to grow their own organic produce.
L’AND Hotel
L´AND Vineyards is a luxury boutique hotel with 23 suites, distinguished by the seamless manner in which contemporary architecture blends in to nature, promoting a unique atmosphere of understated luxury and simple beauty.
L’AND Vineyards also offers its guests the unique opportunity to sleep under the stars of Alentejo’s dark skies, with 13 of its luxury suites – the ‘sky suites’ – having fully retractable roofs. Taking in the night skies of Alentejo and observing the cosmos from the comfort of the hotel are an example of the outstanding experiences that L’AND offers its guests. The sky suites pay tribute to Alentejo’s so called ‘nocturnal landscape’ which suffers from very little light pollution.
The resort’s L’AND Vineyards Hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World chain, which operates top-quality luxury hotels worldwide and is present in 70 countries. As well as the sky suites the hotel includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a restaurant – which will provide organic cuisine inspired by local culinary traditions – a bar and a tennis court.
Aside from providing unique vinification services, as well as the bottling and maturation of wine, L’AND Wine Club will provide a forum to promote the culture of wine and allow members to share in each other’s experiences. The L’AND Wine Club will allow the access to a range of experiences and services such as:
• Participation in the harvest of the common vineyard
• Safe storage of private cellaret in the resort’s restaurant
• Access to oenology courses
• Access to contests and themed events held in the Club
• Management of the cellaret and freely available wine information
Operating under a unique ‘Organic Spa’ concept, the L’AND Vineyards wellness centre will offer a variety of treatments and experiences formulated around natural ingredients grown on the property such as grapes, olives and citrus fruits. Deeply rooted in the rural traditions from which it draws its inspiration, L’AND Organic Spa will have several treatment rooms, fitness rooms, a Turkish bath and an indoor heated swimming pool overlooking the serene and relaxing scenery.
L’AND Made
The L’AND brand will be reflected in a range of products grown from the expansive terroir surrounding the complex. L’AND Made products will be the fruit of the pure soils of Alentejo, of the local farming traditions, and of the dedication and effort of those caring for them.
These products will be produced by Sousa Cunhal in accordance with effective sustainability principles and thus will be certified as organically produced. Besides the Rural Deluxe Products produced by the complex, property owners will be able to produce their own rural goods – such as wine, olive oil and fruit from the orchards – without using any synthetic chemicals and in a personalised way. Such products will give residents a connection to their property and to the area that most resorts cannot provide, as well as a unique way to enjoy their investment. A L’AND Made Store will be present in the resort’s hotel.
