Have you ever dreamed of a safari in the old Africa of the movies? This “Old Time” safari experience can be yours with Bush Camp Safaris in The Okavango Delta. Botswana is the world’s largest inland delta system. This 16,000 sq. km area is a unique and untouched sanctuary where natural order prevails. It is home to numerous forms of wildlife with a combination of land and water to host these.

It is also home to a number of human inhabitants who have lived hunter-gatherer lifestyles in this remote area for hundreds of years. Who better to host you and share with you a rare glimpse into that “Old Time” Africa? The safari begins in Maun where you will board a small aircraft which will take you into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Along the way get a bird’s eye view of this beautiful water world. On arrival at the bush airstrip your safari crew will meet you and load your belongings into a mokoro (traditional canoe made from the trunk of a tree).

You will then depart for your first campsite in the bush along the waterways of the Delta. In the evening you can gather around the campfire relaxing as the safari crew prepares your meal over the open fire. You can talk about the day’s events or just gaze at the Southern Cross and the stars of the southern hemisphere. Experience the thrill of tracking lions, walk up to a herd of Zebra and Wildebeest and watch them part as you approach them. From your mokoro you can photograph elephants playing along the bank of the river a mere 50 feet away. With your guide you will learn to identify and recognize their calls. You will also learn to identify animal tracks and who they belong to. At the end of your “Old Time” safari you will have experienced more of the Africa of your dreams than most visitors to Africa.

Standard safaris
With Bush Camp Safaris the emphasis is on adventure, relaxation, safety and service. With their standard safaris you will travel in an open safari vehicle for excellent game viewing and photographic opportunities. Here you will get to see more of Botswana with its’ varied and rugged terrain. These safaris generally require a more luxurious trip, a more defined schedule with ease of game viewing. Their 14, 10 and 8 day safaris visit the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Game Reserve, Savuti in the southern Chobe National Park, Kasane in the northern Chobe with the safari ending in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe or Livingstone in Zambia. They have two 7 day safaris that visit the Okavango Delta and then either the Moremi Game Reserve or the Nxai Pan National Park. The other visits the Nxai Pan National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

They then also have a five day safari which visits Tsodilo Hills and the Okavango River region before it becomes the delta. The 14 and 10 safaris are conducted as fixed date departures. All the others are conducted on a flexible departure basis depending on availability..
