Founded in 1993, the Piccola Università Italiana is located in the heart of the old town of Tropea, Italy. Housed in a beautiful, historical building from the 18th century, Piccola Università Italiana restored and extended the infrastructure to form a professional school building. With great passion dedicated to the Italian language, to Italy and its culture, and especially to the belief in a region that, arguably, has always been discriminated against in favour of other regions in Italy, Piccola Università Italiana is a place of great drive and ambition to succeed.

Local setting
Tropea is a charming, medieval town with a population of just 7,000. Located on the instep of the Italian boot, it lies on the same latitude as the famous Aeolian Islands. Italians affectionately refer to Tropea as the Pearl of Calabria and you’ll find unspoilt natural landscape with lush green vegetation flooding the horizon and forming a magnificent contrast with the deep blue, crystal clear water of the sea.

Targetted learning
In order to give students a rapid rate of learning, the maximum number of people per class is limited to six. The school also offers Italian language courses which place special emphasis on the vocabulary used in the tourist industry, hotel business, commercial Italian for import/export, medicine, art, literature and history, as well as preparatory courses for Certificate of Italian as a Foreign Language examinations.

Culture club
The weekly cultural programme offers various opportunities to indulge in the Italian culture; from cinema evenings with classical Italian films to private classical concerts at school, motorboat excursions to discover the unspoilt white sandy beaches and deep blue crystal clear water of the local area, plus many cultural excursions in Calabria, the Aeolian Islands and Sicily. For people passionate about sport, the school organises scuba diving, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, golf, tennis and mountain biking.
