Callaway Golf has raised the performance bar to a new level with the launch of the Diablo Edge range, which includes a driver featuring the largest sweet spot compared with any titanium equivalent the company has ever made, with their longest and most user-friendly stainless-steel irons.
Engineered using an ultra-thin four-piece titanium construction, the Diablo Edge Driver generates incredibly high ball speeds thanks to the chemically-milled Hyperbolic Face. A new precision manufacturing technique which precisely controls the thickness of the club face, creating a hitting surface that produces consistently high ball speeds, delivering performance and distance, as well as forgiveness.
The club’s head shape has also been refined to reduce the drag during the downswing, leading to higher impact speeds, faster ball pace and longer shots. By re-engineering the head using lightweight, ultra-thin sheet titanium, the resulting saved weight has allowed the mass to be redistributed towards the back of the clubhead, in the form of a weight chip.
This has created the largest moment of inertia (MOI), or resistance to twisting, of any Callaway Driver; on the course that effectively means is longer, straighter drives, more often, even on off-centre hits.
Neil Howie, president of Callaway Golf Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “In the hands of the golfer, the Diablo Edge Driver speaks for itself. When you consider the stellar line-up of drivers we’ve produced over the years, to introduce the Diablo Edge featuring the largest sweet spot of any Callaway titanium driver ever, is testament of its performance.”
After bombing a long, straight drive down the fairway, a golfer needs the irons to get their ball safely on the green, and Callaway has again come up trumps with a set that are long and forgiving, ideal for mid to high handicap players.
After extensive research and analysis of how amateur golfers strike the ball, Callaway engineered the Diablo Edge Irons with a 50 percent lower and 17 percent deeper centre of gravity (CG), a game improvement feature that makes the sweet spot more accessible to the lower impact locations produced by amateur golfers.
The strategically-placed CG and large cavity back design will help all golfers generate longer, more consistent distances whilst maintaining a forgiving and high trajectory ball flight pattern to promote pin-point accuracy and increase the number of greens hit in regulation.
To further aid a perfectly struck shot more often, a Solid Impact Sole design has been incorporated in the irons, reducing the effects of a chunked or thinned shot and allowing the club to slide through the turf more efficiently. This improves the chances of the ball leaving the face of the iron from a perfect impact location every time.
Howie added, “The Diablo Edge irons represent a genuine breakthrough for amateur golfers seeking maximum performance without losing any of the forgiveness benefits of a game improvement club.”
