An almost forgotten high bluff with breathtaking views of Ashley Creek and vibrant golden marshes
Abundant sunshine and cooling seabreezes. A special place, a rare find!' Just a few of the catch phrases you'll hear when you visit Yellow Bluff, a charming marina community thirty minutes south of Savannah, Georgia and ten minutes from the Intercoastal Waterway. And according to Fred Shore, Managing Partner, you are certain to come up with a few of your own.'One purchaser reminisces about childhood days spent meandering through tidal creeks, crabbing off docks, and beating a path to meet neighborhood friends. His memories of scouting the islands for treasures, both real and imagined, come alive at Yellow Bluff. Great blue herons still rise from the long cordgrass, flapping wet wings.
Ospreys guard treetop nests. Kayakers slow paddle in hopes of hearing a porpoise's watery wheeze before breaking the surface. It's still a prized sighting. Tides fluctuate from high to low like changing seasons. Marshes undulate from green to gold under the afternoon sun. A vermillion sky dulls to lavender-gray at sunset. New memories are born every day,' Shore said. 'It's easy to get hooked on Yellow Bluff.'
For a hundred years, Yellow Bluff was renowned as a retreat and recreational area. It began as a vacation spot and later opened as Yellow Bluff Fishing Camp in 1923, making it the oldest fishing camp in Georgia.
'But it's the essence of the land that sets Yellow Bluff apart,' Shore said. Stately live oaks intertwine with spiky palmettos. The high ground gently slopes downward to the Ashley Creek and the marshes of St. Catherine's Sound. Seabreezes build off the Atlantic and fan across the land.
Shore, along with partners, Ren Keel and Allen Brown, both Liberty County natives, agreed to preserve the integrity of the land, its history, and the natural environment. They teamed up with Savannah land planner/architect Scott Barnard and JT Turner Construction, a Coastal Living Magazine Cottage of the Year winner. Their teamwork has paid off.
Yellow Bluff was selected as a 'Residential Development of Distinction' by Pulse on America for their America's Best Series to air on the Travel Channel and CNN. 'They understand that more and more people are yearning for the lifestyle that Yellow Bluff invokes,' Shore said. 'Our purchasers like the large city proximity, but they want the security, serenity and camaraderie of a neighbourhood.' He motioned toward the inviting porch-fronted cottages that encourage lingering with family and friends. Porch swings, rocking chairs, picket fences, exposed rafter tails, beaded boards, and lapped siding create ambiance. Landscaped sidewalks and cart paths connect the bluff cottages to spacious townhouse cottages or custom home sites at Oyster Point and The Retreat, and to a plethora of amenities: full service marina with store and concierge service, clubhouse with pool and fitness center, walking trails, and Bluff Park for all residents to enjoy. Boating, fishing, kayaking, bird watching, or picnic excursions to nearby barrier islands are popular activities. Restaurants, shopping, bustling nightlife, cultural venues, and international jetports are nearby.
