Hawle Treppenlifte, located in Ruppichteroth, Germany, belongs to the worldwide Hawle International Group, but operates independently beside the Hawle Armaturen GmbH at Freilassing. There, one can engage with more than 40 years of history developing and producing first-class controls and instruments for municipal gas and water supplies, an industry in which Hawle must rank as one of the market leaders worldwide.

Engelberth Hawle, founder and proprietor of the firm, unfortunately became very ill some years ago. After a long period of rehabilitation he had to accept the fact he would never recover total mobility, but he felt determined to live out the rest of his life as normally and independently as possible. Wanting to be able to navigate stairs, Engelberth searched for a long time, looking for a reliable instrument to make this possible, but he couldn’t find a suitable solution. So Mr. Hawle decided to construct a stair lift for himself, with all the necessary comforts he needed to keep his life as normal and mobile as possible.

This first Hawle stair lift was soon brought to the general public and became more and more successful. Sure enough, the company developed their production methods, improving the technical aspects and convenience for users, and marketed its products at reasonable prices. Eventually, overseas exports came to provide more than 80 percent of their business and Hawle could hold their heads high for contributing to better mobility for the handicapped.

Christian Lucaci, technical director at Hawle Ruppichteroth, started out in the stair lift business in 1992, working hard to build what has become an enviable reputation. In 1999, he founded his own firm with complete services beyond the basic lift, then shortly after he seized his chance to start working for Hawle’s stair lift division, where he became technical director in 2004.

Biled, Romania is the new base for development and production of Hawle stair lifts, with a workforce of around 80 people whose innovative engineering techniques are patented to the good name of Engelberth. Hawle stair lifts, Ruppichteroth, take part in international events and exhibitions all over the world, and their products are well known in the industry, with each lift built specifically for individual customers.

Stair lifts are available for the inside and out, and for every kind of staircase, including spiral ascents and those with steep gradients. Hawle are also able deliver platform lifts to serve wheelchair users and have recently added electric scooters to their inventory.”
